My two-week residency at the Mudhouse in Crete is imminent! I’ll be working on my NCTC commission. Now called “Laws of Attraction,” it’s an LGBTQ romantic comedy that satirizes the self-help industry. It’s an outgrowth of my original proposal for “Unavoidable Admissions,” which I discovered I could not write as a comedy … and, in fact, had trouble writing at all. The current political climate simply got in the way of my crafting a sympathetic gay Republican character.
I’ve got a full draft that I’m ready to refine and rewrite, away from home in a stunning, peaceful setting. That will quickly be followed by a private reading with a magnificent cast. What an exciting opportunity!
